Golden retrievers have a lot of energy and need regular movement to calm down. Get your dog on a routine and they will learn to release their energy outside.
Buy toys such as balls or ropes that you can throw and have them bring back to you. Golden retrievers are dogs that live up to their namesake, they love to retrieve whatever is being thrown. Doing this a few times a day will get rid of any extra energy your dog may have.

When Will My Golden Retriever Calm Down?
During the puppy phase, your dog will have an abundance of energy. This is the best time to teach them how to behave properly. Once your dog reaches 2 years old it will start to phase out of its puppy energy and calm down.
Between the ages of 2 and 4 your dog will be in its adolescence, it still may have high energy. If you have trained your golden retriever, they may not have too much energy To cause any issues.
After the age of 4, your golden retriever is considered an adult. Adult dogs are not as energetic as puppies. They tend to be calmer and less chaotic. If you adopt an adult golden retriever that is high energy you can teach it the same way as you would teach a puppy.
